Welcome to the CSAC
Welcome to the website of one Ireland's oldest diving clubs. Established over 50 years ago by some members of the Irish Defence Forces in the Curragh camp in 1958 the club has gone from strenght to strenght over the years.
Today the club is one of the most active in Dublin if not in Ireland with diving up to 3 times a week at the height of the season not to mention the long weekends and overseas trips. We are ideally suited at the waters edge on the South side of Dublin Bay in Sandycove, just minutes from Dun Laoghaire and the major roads of the city.
We have an active membership of close to 60 people and an extremely high level of experienced divers. With our own clubhouse on the shore of Dublin bay one only has to step from the slipway to the boats for a spin out to the dive sites and then back for a hot shower in the clubhouse...

Pool Sessions
Come along and join us if you want to learn how to dive. Every Thursday in Glenalbyn pool we are there. Just ask any member about details for joining us and learning how to dive.
New Years Day Snorkel
The annual New Years Day snorkel took place on a beautiful crisp morning with a good turn-out for the event. Tweleve hardy souls who looked remarkably fresh despite it being the day after the night before donned wet and drysuits and headed off for the snorkel. Visibility was very clear and the water was not too cold. All made it back safely to the clubhouse for hot showers and drinks.
The 2011 Photography Competition results
At the Christmas party the outgoing competitions officer Niall Stapleton, announced the winners to this years photography competition. There were four catergories and below are the winners. Some excellent shots
Portroe, a December visit
On the 11th of December a second visit to Portroe quarry was undertaken by the club. A brave bunch headed down to Tipp, some to try out their fancy new dry-suits. You can see a video of how they got on here at this link on YouTube. Apologies for in advance for the dodgy soundtrack... :-)
Clubhouse Clean-up
This October under the watchful eye of the new clubhouse officer Kevin St. John, the clubhouse underwent its annual clean-up. A team of dedicated volunteers cleaned, scrubbed, removed rubbish and generally gave the place the once over and it is looking great.
Kevin has again put out an appeal for further help, so rather than be disappointed get your name down on the list fast to help out...
R.N.L.I Award
During the 2011 season the Curragh organised two fundraisers for the RNLI for which we raised a grand total of €3232. The first was the Dalkey island swim which we were asked to organise at short notice. Neill McAdam took charge and did an excellent job with his band of volunteers giving out Mars bars and taking sponsorship money and providing boat cover also. Special mention should go to Dave Moore for a solo run on the fundraising and bringing in €500 on the event.
The second fund-raiser was a pub quiz held in Fitzsimons Pub in Sandycove. This was organised by Olive Marshall who did a great job. A good crowd turned up and despite the questions the grand total of €512 was raised that night. Well done to everyone involved!
