Curragh Newsletter
Welcome
to the April/May edition of the Curragh Newsletter. I would like
to say a special welcome to all the new members of the club. We
have lots of new members this season ranging from new trainees to
PADI crossovers to M1s and I'm sure they will all have a very enjoyable
season.
It's
still very early in the new season but already we've had our first
weekend away which was a very successful trip to Mullaghmore in
Sligo. Amonst the qualification that have been achieved already
are new 1*s, a new M1 and some new nitrox divers.
Our
members have been busy over the winter keeping fit in the pool using
Elena Coyles circuit training (some members though have had to escape
the exercise and head for the peace of the sauna).
While some members are attending lectures e.g. cox'n,
rescue, diver medic others are generously giving their time doing
the lectures. Many thank to those people give these lectures many
of which are early on Saturday mornings.
Elena has been busy training the Juniors who have
now nearly all done their snorkelling exams. They are now heading
for the open water as the pool sessions ended at the begining of
April. The pool training ended with a great day out at the National
Aquatic Centre in Blanchardstown where a mini gala was held and
a great day was had by all, especially the 'big' children. The number
of juniors in the club grew to nearly 50 by the end of the pool
training and huge credit goes to Elena for all her hard work.
Behind the scenes various members of the committee
are working hard to keep the equipment, finances and clubhouse in
good order. The work of these officers is not as high profile as
the DO, TO but they are doing great jobs. Also the competition officer
Mick O'Loughlin is planning a photo competition this year so you'd
better get your camera's out and try to get that great kodak moment.
This issue of the newsletter will be an evolving one.
I will publish articles as they come in up until mid May. After
that all articles will be left till the next newsletters. We have
some fabulous photos from Mullaghmore where Dave Kenna followed
us all around and captured some great moments.
If there is any information that is of benefit to the club that
you would like to see included on the website or in the newsletter
please click here
to email the PRO Officer.
