Junior's Letter

26th September 2005

Hi Snorkelers,

Its’ what you all have been waiting for: POOL SNORKEL SESSIONS RETURN ON SUNDAY 2ND October at 7pm to 8pm and will continue through the winter on following Sundays:
9th October
16th October
23rd October
6th November
13th November
20th November
27th November
4th December

Please take note of the following points for the winter pool sessions:
• All snorkelers must be ready in the changing rooms by 6.55pm for entry into the pool at 7pm.
• All snorkelers must be signed in with the Evening instructor- no one is allowed in the pool unless they have signed in with the evening instructor.
• A swim hat must be worn at all times, bring one or borrow one before you get in the pool- Newpark are very strict on this matter.
• If you have your logbooks, please bring it along on the first night back and have your snorkels signed off by me.
• For anyone who hasn’t paid their fees and due to insurance purposes, all fees for 2005 must be paid immediately as anyone who has not paid will not be allowed in the pool.
• Each Snorkeler will be assigned to a group and the first week will be technique revision; after week 1 you will start learning new techniques for your next grade; mid way through the winter sessions we will have guest instructors to teach underwater hockey and rugby games & techniques for training and the last couple of weeks, we will concentrate on getting ready for tests in Spring as well as improving your games ability.

Junior Snorkel notes:
1. Mike’s bikes in Dun Laoghaire were selling kids wetsuits from €25, it is a good time to invest in wetsuits for next year at this reasonable price, go along and see if there is one to suit you!

2. Congratulations to all those who have attained their next snorkel grade and to the senior group who were training for their next grade and well done for all the hard work during the year.

Lastly, I won't be taking on the role of Junior Snorkeling officer this year since I am getting married in March and the distance from home is too far and not practical anymore. Declan Coughlan has offered to perform this role and will be supported by a core group of instructors who will be the ‘Evening Instructor’ on Sunday nights as well as a Rota of divers from the club. I will continue to support in an administrative role, getting letters out, other paperwork/emails etc.

Hope to see you all back on 2nd October to start your training for the next Snorkel grade!

Regards,

Elena Coyle.
