We have our chairperson Michael
O'Loughlin to thank for organising this excellent August
weekend. It was a short one as the the Bank holiday
spot had been bagged for Aodan and Leona's big
day but the quality of the diving made up for quantity
we could fit in over 2 days.
Over 20 members travelled down and
most stayed in the very comfortable Bellbridge house
hotel. Diving was well organised into
2 sticksof 2 boats One towed up by Gerry O'Dowd and the
other safely delivered by Neill
Bannon who dropped by on his way back from Burtonport.
Both boats
The second stick was much appreciated
by those of us who overindulged in
the
hospitality
of west
Clare, in particular the raiding party that went on
a pub crawl in Milltown Malbay 5 miles up the road.
The diving itself was a perfect example
of the best that the west coast has to offer. Easily
25m visability, walls of Clare limestone eroded into
hundreds of shelves, gullies and blow holes teeming
with
life. There was an
abundance
of fish life
including
one massive shoal of mackerel that just seemed to go
on and on and on... What more could you ask for.
Once again we were very lucky with
the weather which favoured us until Sunday morning. The
picnic tables outside the Quilty Tavern was the perfect
sunny spot for post dive banter and refreshment!
All in all an excellent trip and I
for one will lookforward to seeing Seafield on the Curragh
dive calendar again
