Just a short note to thank all involved
for a great week in Boffin. Particular thanks to Mick
O'L, Paul C and Einar and others involved with the preparation
of equipment. Also many thanks to all the boat /trailer
towers, Brendan M, Gerry O'D, Brian H/Ken O'M and Jamie
H. Thanks to Ken for the use of his boat again(nearly
the only one that did not break down at some stage over
the week!!)
Thanks to Rhona for organising the first
successful Boffin Challenge 2003 triathlon event
it was a great success and also to Louise N for the
T-shirts.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants
including the individual winners Paul Walsh, Nial Stapleton
and
Mick O'Loughlin and of course the winning team of
Rhona, Gerry and Riandi. I hope I have not left anyone
out!
I think speaking for myself I had a great time and
everyone pulled their weight and made my job easier
which contributed
to the success of the week. Our representative
in the form of Brendan M was our liaison with the M3
Jury
Group
and the NDO Kevin O'Shaughnessy in particular.
Brendan got to know Kevin quite well over the week
and even
showed him how to play cards and how to get extra
drinking money
from the Lifeboat Box among other things.
We as
you know had some problems with boats breaking down
and
dirty
petrol but despite this we ran some 13 dives
over the week hitting most of the classic Boffin dive
sites including
Bucail Rock, Sunfish Rock, Dun na Hine, Feic
Charraig,
North Beach Cave, Stags Maolan Dubh, Spotted
Rock and even High Island(NE end). Sadly we did not
get
to Inishturk
or the SW end of High Island they will be there
for another year.
Some walking tours were also undertaken
around
the Island and even a nudist beach was discovered
on the way. I have some general digital photos
of the
trip
which I have transferred to cd which I can
make available for copying by any interested parties
(this
does
not include photos of the nudist beach which
are strictly censored) I would be glad to get some
copies
of other
peoples photos to add to this. I have already
made the
usual provisional booking with Aileen for next
years week which for those of you that may be interested
at this early stage will be Sat 19th to Sat 26th
June
2004.
