Well hello again. I got a good rest from the Committee since 2002 and am back fighting fit to steer us along again for another year. I am delighted with the committee that I am working with, we are all lucky that we have such bright able people willing to give up their free time to work for you and their Club. A special thanks to Irene Harrison (Treasurer) and Orna Mc McCarthy (Secretary) who came aboard the committee to fill vacant positions.
Jean has an exciting dive programme worked out for you all throughout the year and there must be something there to suit everybody. We have decided we need a bit more new blood and thus have a big increase in Membership this year. Of course nothing happens in this life without work, so Mark is a very very busy man getting all these new people trained up and ready to blow bubbles by Easter.
The more silent jobs on the Committee are getting done also. We have a new boat arriving in a matter of days. This will be Len Nua unless one of you bright ones can come up with a better idea. Its another Lencraft about 2 foot (600) longer that the existing good one. We should really have a boat launch Party - any ideas out there for Kati to organise. We have a new compressor on order and if the cash is available soon it will be bought. Moneybags Irene will gladly relieve you all of your annual subscription at any time. You know the equipment does not get fixed or the clubhouse tidied up on its own - somebody makes it happen. Colm, Colm and Richard are not in any way proud at all and will accept all offers of help from you all.
Well now about the tiring problem of holidays. For some reason or other we are looking at Vietnam diving in the South China Sea. We have got our hands on an Irish guy living there that will help you get around. There appears to be about a dozen people interested at this point I guess a lot more would like to go. Just decide that you are going, all will fall in place and we will have a great trip.
So come on out and join the fun, believe it or not I had a dive in Skerries about 2 weeks ago and the water although cooler than Tobago is not too bad at all. I just read that the Winter was 1.5 degrees warmer than average, so go on get in the - you will enjoy it when you’re down.
See you in the Water
Peadar.
